Our Mission

We are dedicated to assisting women who are seeking help from drug and alcohol addiction.

When these women face financial burdens of food, clothing, or shelter, we will provide aid so that they can continue the work that’s necessary in the early stages of a successful recovery.

We will continue to build this foundation in the spirit of Allegra Dawn Gliem — with a compassionate and selfless heart, helping women who are dedicated to their recovery.

Allie’s Story

Allie’s addiction to drugs and alcohol started in her teenage years. At the age of just 20, she realized her life had become unmanageable and she made the decision to enter rehab. After leaving rehab, she became a resident of New Found Freedom Sober Living Home. It was there that she began the ground work for her life as a sober young woman.

Through sobriety, Allie accomplished many things. She started her professional career at Strayer University, eventually earning her Bachelor’s Degree there. While working towards her degree, she was promoted several times and ultimately became Director of Campus.

Allie also achieved over 12 years of continuous sobriety until she sadly lost her battle with Stage 4 Sarcoma. She was just 32 years old.

During those 12 years, she became an advocate for recovery. She inspired many others to follow that path. Allie selflessly tried to help others achieve what she achieved. She sponsored countless young women and was very active in the AA community. She attended meetings regularly and shared her experiences and knowledge with others — both men and women.  She wanted others to know how wonderful life could be on the other side of addiction. And she truly believed that if she could do it, you could too.

Even while battling cancer, Allie supported newcomers, sponsored women, shared her story and inspired others who needed help. She continued to make a positive impact on the lives of those seeking recovery.

It is through that spirit that the Allegra Dawn Foundation was born.
